Boodles was founded in the North West of England, with heritage stretching back to 1798 when the Kirk family established a jewellery business in Liverpool, Boodle and Dunthorne. They crafted quality silver jewellery and pocket watches throughout the 1800s, but it was in the early 20th century - after merging with another Liverpool jeweller, Wainwrights - that the company broke into the upper echelons of English jewellery production. Boodles House was opened on the desirable corner of Lord Street and North John street, Liverpool, where it remains as company headquarters to this day, and further shops were established in Chester and Manchester, and later London.
