DATE: Edwardian, c.1910

This exceptional antique necklace dates from the Edwardian period, circa 1910. French made, it's crafted in 14k gold throughout, it features four swag drops, each adorned with imperfectly perfect baroque pearls. The drops gracefully hang from the fine gold chain, and are topped with gorgeous sapphires. A larger pearl hangs freely in the centre, and it has a wearable length of 16.1 inches.

Baroque pearls have been and are still loved by many, for their unique contours and unusual shapes. Queen Elizabeth I's love for pearls is well-documented in her numerous portraits, and baroque pearls were sewn onto her gowns, worn as earrings and even headpieces.
