Description
DATE: Edwardian, c.1910
A gorgeous bird brooch by Georges Lenfant ad Dupont, dating from the Edwardian period, circa 1910. It depicts five little birds, sat on a branch, each set with a gorgeous turquoise body. Each one slightly different in it's own way and displaying great colour. The heads are set with rose cut diamonds with little ruby cabochon eyes. It's crafted in 18k yellow gold with silver settings.
Georges Lenfant was one of the more prolific, and certainly most talented, jewellers of the early 20th century. He designed for the top Parisian houses including Van Cleef, Mellerio dits Meller, and Cartier, where he was a workmaster. His distinctive maker's mark was registered in 1909, and allowed his pieces to remain distinguishable regardless of where they were sold.
