Description
DATE: Mid-Century, c.1940
Moshe Oved (1885-1958) was born into a Jewish family in Poland in 1885. In 1903 he moved to England and settled in London, where he initially worked as a watchmaker. He then established his jewellery shop, Cameo Corner and began designing his animal rings during the bombing raids of London. Whilst sheltering in the basement of his shop, he started making animal rings- he started out with a lambs, then eventually designed various birds and other animals.
This heavy silver ring is modelled as a camel, in profile view standing on a bone shaped base with an opening - under it's belly and in-between it's four legs- forming the ring for a finger.
