Description
DATE: Art Deco, c.1930
A lovely antique four leaf clover charm, dating from the Art Deco period, circa 1930. Set with four lapis lazuli heart shaped "leaves", that show specks of white and brown, and in the centre sits a sapphire all bordered in 9k yellow gold.
Legend has it that the luck factor comes from Eve herself. As Adam and eve were leaving the Garden of Eden, it was said that Eve plucked a four leaf clover as a souvenir of paradise, and this religious connection has led to them being considered lucky ever since. The Celts considered four-leaf clovers to have magical powers of protection, able to ward off evil and bad luck.
