DATE: Vintage, c.1978

In 1850, the E. Wolfe & Company Workshop was founded in London by the Wolfe family. Throughout the 1900's, the business grew and E. Wolfe & Co became a revered name in the jewellery trade. During this period the Company were renowned as “The Tiara Makers” creating more than a thousand tiaras. They were even commissioned by Carrington & Company to make the Royal crown for Queen Alexandra’s 1902 coronation! They are also known for creating beautiful rings, bird and animal brooches, cufflinks and so on...

This pendant, depicting a nuthatch sat upon a branch. The bird is modelled in two-tone gold; it's feathers in white and chest in yellow, both brilliantly textured to create feathers. It has a black enamelled beak and face, with aquamarine spots that travel up the birds back. The eyes are set with sapphires and it sits within an 18k gold halo. Dates from the 1970's.
