Pre Revolution Russian Demantoid Garnet Fabergé Miniature Egg Pendant
$15,000.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1890
A fine quality miniature Fabergé egg pendant, Russian made, circa 1890. It's crafted in 18k gold throughout and is set with gorgeous green demantoid garnets within little star settings. It features marks for Carl Fabergé himself, in Cyrillic showing it was made in his workshop in St. Petersburg; with the city’s coat of arms - of crossed anchors and scepter and 72 zolotniks (18k gold).
In 1882 Peter Carl Fabergé took over his father’s jewellery business, and together with his brother, they quickly transformed his fathers "ordinary" business into an international success. Out went the then fashionable style of diamonds, and in came the love for colour through both stones and reviving the art of enamelling. Today, their works are treasured in some of the world’s leading museums and private collections. The craftsmanship of all their creations was of the very finest standard and the quality of design and craftsmanship made Fabergé extremely successful, making their work the best objects to own.
