DATE: Victorian, c.1900

This beautiful antique pendant is finished in colourful plique-à-jour enamel. It has been modelled after the North Rose Window at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and is fashioned in 18k yellow gold.

The term plique-à-jour literally translates into English as "letting in daylight", for the obvious reason that the light is allowed to pass through the coloured enamel work - just like stained glass.
