Victorian Masonic Star Orb Pendant
Victorian Masonic Star Orb Pendant
$850.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1880
A particularly cool Masonic Orb pendant dating from the latter half of the 19th Century. It's the less common star variant of the style, opening at the top into segments; each face is embellished with a different masonic symbol, including a crescent moon, a skull, a Star of David, square and compasses, a sun, a lighthouse (actually two), &c. Modelled in 9k gold with silver innards.
These distinctive pieces would have been used by masons as pocket watch fobs. Subtle and discreet, they would have been instantly recognised by other masons, but presumably not by the general populace...
