Victorian Enamel "Language of Flowers" Locket & Collar Necklace
Victorian Enamel "Language of Flowers" Locket & Collar Necklace
$1,450.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1870
A striking Victorian silver collar and locket featuring a wonderfully enamelled floral bouquet. The Victorians were really into their symbolic messaging (acrostics, mourning, buckles, etc.) and the language of flowers exemplifies this trend perfectly. In this case we have daffodils, snowdrops, and forget-me-nots, which respectively represent: regard, purity, and true love memories. It's beautifully made, the collar with fancy engraved links and the locket with an interesting pommelled border - crafted in sterling silver throughout and dating from the 1870s.
