DATE: Victorian, c.1850

An incredible Hope Faith & Charity ring dating from the early Victorian period. The three motifs - Anchor for hope, Cross for faith, Heart for charity - are skilfully worked in silver and set with diamonds, and arranged around the heart, for as the apostle Paul said: “Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” It probably started life as a pin or charm, but sometime in the distant past someone has added a plain gold band and curved it to conform the the shape of the finger.
