DATE: Victorian, c.1890

A lovely lucky antique locket with interlocking horseshoes, topped with dreamy pearls and coral. It's hinged down the left hand side and opens to reveal a compartment, for a photograph or memento. It's crafted in 15k gold throughout and dates to the Victorian period, circa 1890.

Horseshoes have long been associated with good luck, and have become a popular symbol to provide protection. Maybe a double horseshoe, means more luck?
