DATE: Victorian, c.1890

A lovely antique locket with intertwined horseshoes, set with dreamy pearls and coral. It's hinged down the left hand side and opens to reveal a compartment, for a photograph or memento. It's crafted in 15k gold throughout and dates to the Victorian period, circa 1890.

Horseshoes have long been associated with good luck, and have become popular symbol to provide protection. Maybe a double horseshoe, means more luck?
