Victorian Agate Anchor Brooch
Victorian Agate Anchor Brooch
$900.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1860
A fantastic oversized anchor brooch/pendant dating from the mid Victorian period, circa 1860. It's hand-chased with foliate motifs, and crafted in sterling silver. The rope coiled around it makes it a "fouled anchor". This means to be entangled or entwined, so an anchor is said to be "fouled" if it becomes caught up in rope, or snagged on the seafloor. Across the front there are four agate panels, two carnelian and two bloodstone. It features a brooch and a pendant fittings, so style this however you like.
