DATE: Vintage, c.1970

Striking modernist ring with two bands of inlayed abalone, an iridescent gem material is obtained from the shells of marine gastropod molluscs in the family Haliotidae, present in warm water costal regions across the globe. The ring is furnished with predominantly green, blue, and pink abalone, with pronounced shoulders and a narrow, flat face. Marks to the inner band indicate it was made in Taxco, Mexico, famous for its centuries old industries in both silver mining and jewellery production.
