DATE: Edwardian, c.1910

A stunning antique drop necklace dating from the Edwardian period, circa 1910. It features the three gemstones linked to the Suffragette movement. The colours, Green, White and Violet, are said to have been a hidden expression of allegiance with the Suffragette movement, and in this case its shown through the peridot (1ct total), amethyst (0.81ct) and bright white old cut diamonds (0.41ct total). These diamonds are set along the top of the piece, with floral drops that link to the the centre amethyst and two outer peridots, each of pear shape and carats total. Its crafted in 15k gold with a platinum chain and settings, and has a wearable length of 15.7 inches.

This suffragette style piece, uses the colours the ‘Suffrage’ flag. White stands for purity, green for hope and purple for dignity. The Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU), often called 'Suffragettes', formed after 60 years of peaceful campaigns. After this, they engaged specialist chemists to manufacture explosives, cut telephone wires to bring down government communications, and engaged in mass window smashing campaigns across London’s West End.
