Description

Cool antique four-leaf clover charm with a combination of dark and light green enamel leaves. Stamped with Sterling on the back, circa 1930.

Originating from Ireland, four-leaf clovers were believed to offer magical protection and guard you from bad luck. The leaves are said to stand for faith, hope, love and luck. It's often said Ireland grows more four-leaf clovers than anywhere in the world, which explains the expression "The luck of the Irish". However the chance of finding one is about 1 in 10,000.

The first reference to suggest their good fortune was made in 1620 by Sir John Melton, an English writer and politician. He wrote "If a man walking in the fields find any four-leaved grass, he shall in a small while after find some good thing."
