DATE: 17th Century

Framed miniature painting depicting a cavalier scene (?) with soldiers and villagers in various stages of revelry, dated 1683. Some are dining on trestle tables, others dancing, and some clinking beer mugs on horseback - all taking place around what appears to be an army encampment on the outskirts of a Tudor village, a lake and mountains in the distance behind. The detail is fantastic, it's signed to the bottom left corner but illegibly. Mounted in a gilt metal frame behind glass.
