Victorian Three-Tone Gold MIZPAH Ring
Victorian Three-Tone Gold MIZPAH Ring
$1,500.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1885
A cool Victorian MIZPAH ring modelled in three-tone gold: the band itself is yellow in colour, with applied rose gold and green gold lettering. Mizpah, Hebrew for "watchtower". A loose definition is “May God watch over you,” and the jewellery is meant to show the emotional bond between two people who have become separated - either physically, or through death. The term is commonly found on antique jewellery, but is also still worn by many people as a continued reminder of friendship. With full English hallmarks for 18k gold, Chester 1885.
