A charming silver cuff bangle dating from the Victorian period, circa 1880. The front has been finely engraved with a cluster of ivy leaves, with textured background giving a real sense of three dimensional space. Victorian jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment... In this case, the ivy leaf represents marriage and fidelity, often with the words "I Cling To Thee". Fits a 6.5 inch wrist.
