Victorian Silver Buckle & Ivy Leaf Cuff Bangle
Victorian Silver Buckle & Ivy Leaf Cuff Bangle
$1,700.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1900
This turn of the century cuff bangle is modelled in silver and features two powerful symbols, popular during the Victorian period. Set with a large buckle to the front, symbolising eternity, fidelity, strength and protection- an eternal loop that threads back into itself. It's perfectly completed by ivy leaves, that decorate the entire strap of the buckle and the cuff itself. The ivy leaf, according to Kate Greenaway's Language of Flowers book, symbolises fidelity- as they're well known for their climbing stems that cling to surfaces. The bangle is bordered with a gorgeous hand chased checkerboard, while silver pommels surround the entirety. It remains in excellent condition and fits a 6.5 inch wrist.
