An exceptional pair of gold earrings modelled in the Etruscan Revival style. Dating from circa 1870, the goldwork emulates pieces found in excavations that took place in Italy in the 18th and 19th Centuries. Notable for the applied ropework detailing, granulation, and heavy ornamentation - it took jewellery makers in the Victorian era decades to re-learn these long forgotten ancient techniques. This pair is crafted in 15 karat gold, and they remain in great condition.
