Victorian 0.47ct No-Heat Burma Ruby with Diamond Cluster Mount

Victorian 0.47ct No-Heat Burma Ruby with Diamond Cluster Mount

DATE: Victorian, c.1880

Stunning antique ruby certified as no-heat Burma origin. It's an oval mixed cut, 0.47 carats, free from visible inclusions, and with the added bonus of an old cut diamond cluster mount (swipe to see it). So what's going on here? Here's my best educated guess: the stone's been popped out of it's original mount for at the gem lab for accurate certification. It's likely to have been mounted up with the diamonds during the latter half of the 19th century by a wholesale jewellery manufacturer, who would have sold these partially finished cluster components to shops around the UK, who could then make them into rings, earrings, pendants, brooches etc. depending on their own inventory requirements, signature style, or depending on what type of jewellery was currently in demand. This one doesn't seem to have been made into its final piece of jewellery... which, if you're interested, gives you the final say. We can have our jeweller make this into the piece of your dreams - get in touch to explore options.
