DATE: Mid-Century, c.1950

A 'Capitol Records' round silver pendant with centred logo and grooves to give the full effect of a vinyl record. The American Record Label was founded by Johnny Mercer, Buddy Desylva, and Glenn. E. Wallichs in 1942. The company was home to some of the worlds most recognised recording artists such as The Beatles, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, and (famously) almost Kanye West... 

In 1962, Beach Boys released their first album, 'Surfin' Safari', whereupon the company grew rapidly and began working with a wider variety of artists. Capitol Records now works with artists from all over the world, celebrating nearly 80 years in business. They are one of the Big Three record companies in the world.
