WW2 Trench Art Parachute / Flower Ring
WW2 Trench Art Parachute / Flower Ring
$350.00
Description
DATE: WW2, c.1940
Remarkable WW2 "trench art" ring, circa 1915. At first (and for quite a while actually) I thought it was a simple flower design with petals and central copper detail, but looking at it now is it really a parachute and soldier viewed from the ground? During WW2 a more mechanised army offered the soldier/artist access to more advanced tools and materials, so the variety and intricacy/complexity of the pieces was greatly expanded. And perhaps, with the first widespread deployment of paratroopers, so was the inspiration. It's made from aluminium and copper.
