Victorian Silver & Rose Gold Ivy Leaf Cuff Bangle
Victorian Silver & Rose Gold Ivy Leaf Cuff Bangle
$780.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1882
A gorgeous antique silver cuff bangle, dating from the Victorian period, with English hallmarks for Birmingham 1882 and makers marks for Dimier Brothers & Co. The front has been finely engraved with a cluster of ivy leaves, with textured background giving a real sense of three dimensional space. Victorian jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment... In this case, the ivy leaf represents marriage and fidelity, often with the words "I Cling To Thee". With a gorgeous border of rose gold inlay, it fit's a 6.5 inch wrist and remains in great condition.
Dimier Brothers & Co, jewellers founded in 1868 by Charles Dimier with premises at 46 Cannon Street. In 1918 the company was under the direction of George and Amelia Dimier, so this is an original makers piece!
