DATE: Victorian, c.1870

A rare Victorian era aluminium made cuff bangle. Aluminium was discovered in the nineteenth century and was first used in jewellery around the 1850's, after being discovered in 1825. It was seen to be more valuable than gold due to the difficulty of extracting it, and Aluminium pieces were shown at the Paris Exhibition of 1867 caused a excitement. This one features lovely floral details upon a textured background, fitting an 8  inch wrist.
