DATE: Victorian, c.1880

The sky's mysterious nature intrigued the Victorians, and it represented the realm of dreams, magic, and the hidden aspects of life. Stars and crescent moons were a popular motif, and this star piece is set with the gorgeous combination of opal, rose cut diamond, ruby and emerald. Crafted in 15 karat gold throughout, the opal takes centre stage displaying a rainbow spectrum of colours- blue, green, red, orange and purple. The stars' points alternate in size and gemstones, with rose cut diamonds set along the longer lengths with rubies and emerald in-between. It features gold brooch fittings, but we love this worn as a pendant!
