DATE: Late Victorian, c.1900

This colourful antique crescent brooch is set with gorgeous fiery opals and sparkling diamonds. Crafted in 18 karat gold, 17 opals graduate in size across the outer edge of the crescent. They display a rainbow spectrum of colour- green, blue, red, orange, purple, pink and yellow- and they seem to glow from within when moved in the light! The inner row is set with diamonds amongst platinum detailed settings, a lovely contrast to the colourful outer row. The crescent ends at two gold points, the piece facing upwards with brooch fittings across the back. You could also wear this as a pendant with a chain, and it dates from the turn of the century, circa 1900. Comes complete with antique blue box.
