Victorian Turquoise & Pearl Forget-Me-Not Ring
Victorian Turquoise & Pearl Forget-Me-Not Ring
$2,200.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1848
A particularly sweet antique Forget-Me-Not ring dating from the Mid-Victorian period, with English hallmarks for Birmingham assay office and the year 1848. Crafted in 15 karat gold throughout, the head is modelled as the ever charming forget-me-not flower. Its stem is set with dreamy pearls, whilst the flower is set with vibrant turquoise cabochons. The flower is flanked by two further blue stones, and the band features lovely small details to the shoulders.
Antique jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers". Many flowers represented a romantic or emotional sentiment, and in this case, the head is modelled as a forget-me-not flower- for true love, forget me not.
