Description

DATE: Art Deco, c.1920

Cool antique charm dating from the 1920s and formed as a red letter, signifying a red letter day. The term has its roots in classical antiquity, important days are indicated in red in a calendar dating from the Roman Republic (502-27 BC). Red ink continued to be used throughout the medieval period, with manuscripts often featuring initial capitals and important words highlighted in red. I can also remember by grandad writing his diary entires in red ink on special days... The charm's crafted in silver with red enamel and a white dot in the centre.
