$2,300.00
Description
DATE: Art Deco, c.1930
This fantastic Art Deco necklace is made up of 42 nitrate "Myra" glass (specifically the WMF Myra Krystall range) beads. They display gorgeous hues throughout, you could almost say like spilled petrol/gas! They graduate in size across the silver chain, with small white metal spacers in-between. WMF, or Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik was a well-respected German maker of household decorative metal ware, ceramics, and glass since 1853. They began to produce jewellery in the 1920's, where the range of Myra glass was produced! The glass was formulated with silver nitrate instead of lead, and the surface was treated with iridescent metal salts to achieve its distinctive colour. It has a wearable length of 18.7 inches and fastens with a silver clasp.
