Art Deco Enamel Lucky Clover Charm
Art Deco Enamel Lucky Clover Charm
$1,050.00
Description
DATE: Art Deco, c.1920
A lovely antique charm, modelled as a four leaf clover. The clover slides to one side to reveal the words "Porte Bonheur" which translates to "lucky charm". Painted in green and white enamel with black lettering, it's crafted in sterling silver throughout. Dates from the Art Deco period, circa 1920.
Originating from Ireland, four-leaf clovers were believed to offer magical protection and guard you from bad luck. The leaves are said to stand for faith, hope, love and luck. It's often said Ireland grows more four-leaf clovers than anywhere in the world, which explains the expression "The luck of the Irish". However the chance of finding one is about 1 in 10,000.
