Description

DATE: Vintage,1983

Cool minimalist fly earrings dating from the 1980s. Musca domestica, the infamous housefly, is believed to have evolved during the early Cenozoic Era (aka the Age of Mammals), around 60 million years ago, and eventually dispersed to all corners of the globe as a result of long-term biological interaction with humans. A great example of commensalism, whereby members of one species (housefly) gain benefits through interaction with another (humans) which is neither benefitted nor harmed (although I'll concede they can be very annoying at times). These two are modelled in 9k gold with navette opal bodies and English hallmarks for the year 1983.
