DATE: Art Deco, c.1930
A charming bracelet dating to the 1930's, made up of lovely flowers in vibrant blue and orange enamelling. The piece is made by Bernard Instone, a British jeweller Born in Birmingham in 1891. Modelled in silver throughout, the flowers are joined together by loop links, fastening with a silver hook. It has a wearable length of 7.4 inches and features the Bernard Instone makers marks to the fastening.
At the age of 22, Instone began working at the Birmingham School of Jewellery. His role was to assist in classes, however, he also produced his own jewellery. It was at this point in his life that he began to undertake jewellery commissions. He soon set up his own business, and pieces were often characterised by leaves, flowers, different coloured enamels and semi precious stones.
