DATE: Art Deco, c.1930

Charming vintage love token pendant signed by Alphonse Augis, this one unusual in that the words are in Spanish (they're normally French). The sentiment is taken from a poem by Rosemonde Gerard, and translates to English as "I love you more (+) than I did yesterday and less (-) than I will tomorrow." In this case the border and + are diamond-cut gold, and the - is set with rubies. Modelled in 18k gold. The usual French ones read "PLUS (+) QU'HIER MOINS (-) QUE DEMAIN", however this variant is "MAS QUE AYER MENOS QUE MAÑANA". Crafted in 18 karat gold it dates form the 1930s.
