Victorian Sentimental "To Be Loved" Bangle
DATE: Victorian, 1882
A very special Victorian bangle with the French words "J'AIME QU'ON M'AIME COMME J'AIME QUAND J'AIME", which translates as "I love to be loved like I love when I'm in love". The piece is worked in 15k gold, hallmarked for the year 1882, and was made by B.W. Fase under patentee number 5567. The lightweight construction means the bangle has good flexibility - essentially making it adjustable to fit any wrist.
I just found a 1907 advertisement by B.W. Fase... "New Jewels for old. Why keep old fashioned Jewellery that you cannot wear?"
Inner dimensions: 5.8 x 4.6cm - Width of band: 15.5mm
