DATE: Victorian, c.1860

This cool mid Victorian brooch dates to c.1860, and features a winged cherub - with enamelled face and diamond studded wings. Above, a five-pointed star is set with a further rose cut diamond, and likely represents the five wounds suffered by Christ on the cross. It's modelled in 14k gold, and measures 2.6cm across. Of French origin.
