Mid-Victorian Turquoise Snake Collar

Mid-Victorian Turquoise Snake Collar

$2,800.00

Description

DATE: Victorian, c.1850

A stunning 19th Century snake collar, dating to c.1850. The serpent's head is set with four turquoise cabochons and has striking ruby eyes, with a heart shaped locket drop hanging from jagged teeth. Remarkably, the piece is still paired with its original fitted presentation box (which is excellent in its own right), and modelled in 15k gold throughout. The piece is designed to hug the neck, with the head resting just between the collar bones, high up on the chest. A particularly fine quality example of this sought-after style.
