Mid-Victorian Rose Diamond Scalloped Trilogy Ring
Mid-Victorian Rose Diamond Scalloped Trilogy Ring
$2,000.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1850
Took me a while to fully unpack this ring... it's really quite strange. The three rose cut diamonds are set in (what appear to be) Georgian "pie-crust" mounts, then the whole lot - diamonds and mounts - are themselves set in scalloped claw mounts lined up in a single row. An unusual, but visually quite striking effect. The three stones and mounts are paired with an ornate 15k gold band featuring oak and ivy leaves. It's not clear whether the pie-crust mounted diamonds were made during the Georgian period (late 18th to early 19th century) and re-purposed to create the ring, or whether they're contemporary with the whole piece. Either alternative is equally plausible.
