Description

DATE: Victorian, c.1860

A most unusual, Museum Quality, Victorian graduated bead necklace - dating to c.1860. The beads are made from pique, a term used to describe the process of inlaying precious metal in moulded tortoise shell to create a pattern. The piece comprises 24 individual beads, each inlayed with gold and silver, and held together with 9k gold links. I've never seen one like it, and it remains in great condition.
