Mid Victorian Heraldic Lion Signet Ring

$1,200.00

Description

DATE: Mid-Victorian, 1862

A very cool mid-Victorian Heraldic Signet Ring, modelled in 15k gold and hallmarked for the year 1862. The oval sardonyx panel has been carved with an intaglio crest of a Lion sejant affrontée - unusually face on. According to Fairbairn's Book of Crests, this was adopted by the Campbell, Furse, Maitland, and Stewart families in Scotland. The ring itself is very typical of the era, with elaborate hand-chased detail to the shoulders, and a scalloped setting. Shop link in bio, or DM for more details.
