Late Victorian Moonstone & Diamond Ring
DATE: Late Victorian, c.1890
This wonderful ring is set with a gorgeous pointed cabochon moonstone and a variety of old and rose cut diamonds. It dates to the late Victorian era, c.1890, and features exceptional scrolled detail to the shoulders, and an intricate openworked gallery. The pointed cabochon means that this stone glows exceptionally brightly... Moonstone is known for its adularescence, an optical phenomenon whereby the light pools inside the stone and the whole thing appears to shimmer and glow. It doesn't take too much imagination to see why it's called moonstone.
