Georgian Pearl Padlock Locket Brooch

This pretty antique brooch takes the form of a stylised padlock, set with natural pearls and featuring a small locket compartment at the centre. Modelled in 12k gold, with a dished back, the piece is currently home to lock of woven hair - as was the custom with memorial pieces at the time. The padlock would have symbolised a "secure" memory, ensuring the loved one was never forgotten by the wearer.
