Georgian Almandine Garnet Witch's Heart Brooch
DATE: Georgian, c.1820
This cool antique brooch is modelled as a witch's heart, crowned with a row of flat cut almandine garnets. Ever popular, the witch's heart can be identified by its curved point at the bottom. It symbolises (in the Georgian era, at least) that the wearer has been "bewitched" by the giver, and when crowned as this one, it also represented loyalty.
