Edwardian .85ct Transitional Cut Diamond 5-Stone Bezel Ring

$1,400.00

Description

DATE: Edwardian, c.1910

A particularly lovely five-stone diamond ring made during the Edwardian era at the very beginning of the 20th Century. The transitional cut stones are set in platinum bezel mounts, very typical of the period. Jewellers had only been working with platinum for a decade or so before this ring was made (on account of the high temperatures required to work the metal), so settings like these were ultra modern in their day, and highly sought after. The cool white metal was seen to complement and enhance the colour and brilliance of the diamonds, providing an elegant frame that complemented the stones themselves while provided a striking colour contrast with the 18 karat yellow gold band.
