Boxed Etruscan Revival 15k Gold Bangle
DATE: Victorian, c.1870
The most wonderful Etruscan Revival bangel, modelled in 15k gold and paired with it's original (delightful) presentation box. The bangle features exquisite applied goldwork and two rose gold lines run parallel along each edge. It dates to c.1870.
The Etruscan Revival movement began in the mid 19th Century, inspired by the ancient jewellery found in excavations of tombs in Pompeii and Herculaneum. The intricate goldwork bemused and enchanted both working jewellers and high society alike, indeed it took a over a decade for jewellers re-learn the techniques perfected by their ancient counterparts.
