Arts & Crafts Moonstone Cabochon Ring
DATE: Early 20th Century, c.1910
This attractive antique ring was made at the turn of the 20th Century in the Arts & Crafts style. It's modelled in sterling silver and set with a gorgeous oval moonstone cabochon - the shoulders feature delicate openwork foliate designs, and a ring of rope detail surrounds the stone. The Arts & Crafts movement was established Britain in the late 19th Century, and is generally regarded as one of the most influential cultural developments of modern times. It grew from a concern for the rampant indistrialism of the past 100 years; seeking to reconnect with the traditional skills and craftsmanship, and return to a simpler way of life - as such, designs often took inspiration from the natural world.
