DATE: Art Deco, c.1920

A sweet antique powder compact featuring an enamelled pastoral scene on the outer lid, embellished with swirling hand-chased floral and foliate decoration. The main scene depicts a couple, the man down on one knee presumably proposing. It opens to reveal a compartment for powder, complete with silk blend sifter and bevelled mirror.
