Antique WW1 “Touch Wud” Lucky Charm Pendant

DATE: Edwardian Period, c.1914

This antique pendant is known as a "Touch Wud" (or touch wood) charm, and it was made as a good luck token for soldiers fighting in the first World War. The fittings are modelled in sterling silver, and the eyes are set with little red paste stones. On the back of the wooden bead the words "TOUCH WUD" can still just about be made out.
