19th Century Lapis Lazuli ROMA Grand Tour Bangle

19th Century Lapis Lazuli ROMA Grand Tour Bangle

$3,700.00

Description

DATE: Victorian, c.1870

The most beautiful and unusual antique Grand Tour bangle made in Italy in the 1870s. It's crafted in the Etruscan Revival style, adorned with intricate applied ropework, granulation, and gold pommels, as well as a row of lapis beads along one side and the word ROMA on the other (indicating it was a souvenir form the Italian capital). The craftsmanship is superb, modelled in 15 karat gold throughout, and it remains paired with the original and particularly interesting presentation box, that's been designed to present both sides of the bangle when opened.
